Community Update 8/31/17

ON AUGUST 31st, 1897 ...
1897 Thomas Edison patented his movie camera (Kinetograph). Unlike these earlier cameras, Edison’s Kinetoscope and Kinetograph used celluloid film, invented by George Eastman in 1889. In February 1893, Edison built a small movie studio that could be rotated to capture the best available sunlight. He showed the first demonstration of his films—featuring three of his workers pretending to be blacksmiths—in May 1893.

Artist showing through September at Vista Clubhouse – Anna Mead
A native West Virginian, Anna Marie Mead has made Colorado home for over 40 years where she makes creating art part of her everyday life. As a professional artist, she has a studio in Denver’s Santa Fe Arts District. This studio is located at the BitFactory (#105), and here she has enjoyed creating as well as exhibiting her paintings in the gallery.
Most recently she had an exciting solo show “Transitions” in the BitFactory Gallery. This show is very close to Anna Marie’s heart as she is also transitioning. In the future, she is looking forward to a team show with fellow jewelry artist Julie Sims. These two ladies are looking forward to a great collaboration of jewels and jewel like paintings.
