Vote YES on Ballot Issue A

Please support your local fire department by voting YES on Ballot Issue A in the special election. Ballots must be received at the Fire Station (23455 Currant Dr) by 5 pm, Tuesday, May 8. Passage of this ballot measure will increase your property taxes by $10.80/$100,000 actual value, and allow Genesee Fire Rescue to maintain its current level of service and training.

For more detailed information about what the ballot measure means for you and for the Fire Protection District, go to
FriendsOfGeneseeFire.com. Ballots were mailed to each voter registered in the District on April 17. If you didn’t receive your ballot, please go to the fire station and fill out a form so a new ballot can be issued. Thanks for your support.

Recreational Sites Planning Questionnaire

*|MC:SUBJECT|*
View this email in your browser
*FOR GENESEE FOUNDATION RESIDENTS ONLY
Thank you if you were able to attend our Recreational Sites Planning Meeting. We understand many could not make it and would like to make sure you are aware of your opportunity to be heard. If you attended but still want to share your opinion we encourage you to go to our website at geneseefoundation.org and click on the questionnaire to provide your individual vision for a future Genesee. The maps with the concepts are all there as well as an online survey. Please complete this by Friday, April 27th at 5:00pm.

Additionally, we would like to make clear that this work is for planning purposes. All of the effort for the recreational sites planning is getting our community involved in a future vision for Genesee. It is meant to be the creative brainstorming at the start of any long-range plan. Our consultant is contracted to help us with facilitating the discussion, collecting the opinions, coming up with potential concepts, and at the end providing us with cost ranges and timing for our future Boards. HCM's contract does not include work to continue with any of the concepts.

The only work the Board is pursuing at this time is to repair the Foothills pool and our Vista courts. From the community meetings on the condition of our pools, residents asked for us to consider adding a sixth lane and making a change over to a saltwater disinfection system. Since these two options are not just a repair function, the Board will go out to the community and ask for a vote on these two topics which you should see shortly. We are putting together the survey documents with information on the cost of the baseline repairs and the costs of the options so that our neighbors can make an informed decision. And we hope that future Boards will consider this a model for dealing with projects, that is, research the issue, get community feedback, get contractor information and costs, seek community feedback, implement.

If you have any questions, let us know. Please email facilities@geneseefoundation.org or call the office.

Chris Garlasco

We Often Hear Apathy Is Consent
If that is true for you, then you don’t need to come to the Community Meeting on April 17th. But if you want your ideas about our trails, open spaces, courts, playgrounds, and our other outside amenities to be heard, plan to be at this meeting. Our consulting partner, HCM, has designed preliminary concepts for the outdoor spaces at each of our recreational sites: Solitude, Vista, Foothills, and our trails. Working again in small groups, we will be moving game pieces on concept boards to come up with our own unique ideas for each area.
Pizza and snacks will be served at 5:30, and child care will be provided for your little ones. As before, children ages 7 and up are invited to participate in the actual game! RSVP for pizza and/or childcare below.

Extreme Fire Danger!

Unseasonably warm temperatures, low humidity and high winds have triggered extreme fire danger warnings for half of Colorado including the Front Range and the Eastern Plains. With state fire officials warning that Colorado is experiencing its third driest winter on record — after 2002 and 2012, both devastating wildfire seasons — now is the time to take steps to protect your property and finances against fire risk. The Genesee Fire and Safety Committee has links to numerous documents on the Foundation website www.geneseefoundation.org. as well as access to registration information for CodeRED Emergency Alerts and the Jeffco Sheriff’s blogspot. Registering for each of these will ensure that you have the most up-to-date information about all emergencies in our area.
