4th of July Contest Winners!

Who won the GEM Contest on July 4?

This year at our July 4 celebration, the GEM (Genesee Ecosystem Management Committee) booth offered information on wildlife, wild flowers, weeds, and pests, along with quizzes, prizes, and a contest. Twenty-two people entered the contest to guess the weight of Genesee-blend grass seed in a bottle. Guesses ranged from 0.035 to 12 ounces, with a number of guesses in the 3-ounce range. Well, that seed is pretty light without the bottle, and it turns out it weighed only 1.4 ounces. Our winner with the closest guess is Mary Cogorno, who was thrilled to learn she’d won a $25 Amazon gift card. Congratulations, Mary!
Plan to stop by the GEM and Fire and Safety Committee booths next year. You’ll find free info you can use. Don’t miss the opportunity to see what you can learn, and win.

What is the total length of all the hoses carried on Genesee Fire’s engine 931?

According to Genesee Fire Training Chief, Ryan Babcock, engine 931 carries a total of 2,600 feet of hoses. The winner of the Genesee Fire and Safety’s 4th of July “guess the length of hose” contest was our neighbor Bill Saigh.  Bill’s guess was the closest without going over and for that winning guess he received a $25 Amazon gift card.

Congratulations Bill!!
