Salary: $1,300– $1450 per 2 weeks, depending on experience.

General Purpose:

The Aquatics Director is responsible for ensuring the safety of Genesee Foundation residents, guests and facilities by managing a responsible staff at both pools, managing day to day operations, and making necessary changes to ensure the safety and welfare of residents, guests and the facilities. The pools shall meet all heath codes and pools, offices and locker rooms shall be clean, neat and in good working order. The pools shall have an enjoyable and pleasant atmosphere for Genesee Foundation residents and their guests. 


  • Work 40 hours per week on site broken down approximately as follows:

    • 25 hours per week on the deck guarding

    • 10 hours per week administrative including scheduling guards, payroll, or running staff in-services.

    • 5 hours per week maintenance follow up.

    • Private lessons are not included in the 40-hour week and must be scheduled outside of these hours.

    • Saturday and Sunday shifts required to maintain pool chemistry.

    • Manager schedule shall be submitted one week in advance along with guard schedule.

  • Guarding, teaching, admin and maintenance hours will be designated.

  • Hiring, scheduling managing and evaluating all summer guards (10 - 15).

  • Completion of payroll hours and deposits for the aquatics staff and programs. Adhere to current year budget and prepare following year budget.

  • Oversee all daily aquatics activities including 4th of July. Facilities shall be safe adhering to Red Cross life guarding standards

  • Ordering supplies and chemicals as coordinated with maintenance supervisor. Enforce all guest and private rental policies

  • Oversee daily pool and deck maintenance with maintenance department including brushing, vacuuming, filter and heating systems, daily chemical water checks and adding chemicals to meet standards. Daily locker room and tile checks and cleaning of same.

Supervisory Duties

Hire, schedule, manage and evaluate all lifeguards (10-15 per year).

Working Conditions:

Be at pools 40 hours per week. Both inside & outside work in all weather. Heavy public contact. Lifting (up to 40 lbs), bending and twisting are required.

Education + Experience:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard training, First Aide, CPR for Professional Rescuer, WSI or their equivalents, Certified Pool Operator required (or completion by pool opening date). Training level certifications preferred.

  • 3-5 years prior aquatic experience, at least 1 in a supervisory position

  • Other certifications as required by insurance, local or state laws


Private: All payment of private lessons, cash are to be made through the Foundation office in order for the instructor to be paid. When a lesson is paid, the resident will receive a receipt which should be turned into the instructor at the time of the lesson. Instructors shall not accept payment personally. Instructors will receive the full amount of the payment, minus applicable payroll taxes.
