Work in the sanitation thinning area is complete, skid trails and disturbed
areas have been re-vegetated with the Genesee seed mix.

June 2007

removal work is complete, disturbed areas are re-vegetated with the

May 2007
- Sanitation Thinning tree
removal work continues. An estimated 2/3 of the work is complete.
April 2007
- Sanitation Thinning tree
removal operations continued. Snow has severely delayed the
completion of this project, many trees have been felled and it is
estimated the project is 40% complete.
March 2007
- March 1, 2007 - Sanitation Thinning operations
continued. (weather dependant)
February 2007
- Tree removal operations continued. (weather
dependant).
December 2006 - January 2007
- Tree removal operations suspended due to the current snow depth.
November 2006
- Tree removal began in the Sanitation Thinning Area.
June - October 2006
- The Sanitation Thinning project was scheduled to begin in the fall
of 2006.
May 2006
- Bids from tree removal contractors were submitted to the Genesee
Foundation on May 15th 2006.
April 2006
- Resident comment was submitted to the Genesee Foundation Board of
Directors for review at the April 12th 2006 Board meeting.
March 2006
- A resident walk of the Sanitation Thinning Area was conducted by Blue
Mountain Environmental Consulting on March 18th 2006.
February 2006
- Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting submitted a forest
restoration plan and Sanitation Thinning Area prescriptions.
- A field inventory / resident educational meeting was conducted on
February 16th 2006.
January 2006
- Property lines were marked with blaze orange flagging tape, letters
were mailed to residents that have property bordering the Sanitation
tree removal area asking them to review the marking and contact the Open
Space office with any questions
- A professional forester was hired to create a forest treatment plan for
the Sanitation Thinning Area.
