Three shaded fuel break areas have been selected to reduce the risk of crown fire and improve forest health and sustainability.  Tree removal operations in areas 1 and 2 are scheduled to occur in 2007, tree removal operations in area 3 is scheduled in 2008.  Dahl Environmental Services will create a marking report for the three designated areas and will will be posted on the Genesee Ecosystem Web Page.  A Guided public walkthrough will be hosted for each area in order to get feedback from Genesee residents and discuss the these forest management activities.

Area 1 - Located east of Genesee Trail Road, south of Dogwood Drive.  This area is approximately 2 acres in size and small diameter, and latter fuel trees should be removed because this area is along one of Genesee's primary ingress / egress routes.

Area 2 - Located east of Genesee Ridge Road north of Shingle Creek Road, this area is approximately 3 acres in size.  Overcrowded, suppressed, and latter fuel should be removed because this area is along one of Genesee's primary ingress / egress routes.

Area 3 - Located south of Montane Drive east near Stone Crop Way, this area is approximately 10 acres in size.  This area has a high wildfire hazard rating due to its southwest facing slope, steep topography, and its high tree density.
